Sited on Queen Street, the Singapore China Cultural Center is 11 storeys tall, interrupted by a semi-outdoor space on the sixth level for public performances. In line with the client’s vision of spreading Chinese culture, its architecture imbues elements from it: pillars metal-clad with bamboo shoot print, stone coverings in Chinese grey sourced from Shandong, and a modern interpretation of the Chinese red lantern hanging from the roof. Internally, there are spaces such as a book bar, exhibition hall, theatre, library and sky terraces. These make up a modern sanctuary of rich Chinese culture, set in the busy city centre of Singapore.

This project was undertaken by MORROW’s core team members during their time in RSP.
