Set on the steep, sloping site of Nepal Hill, the Essec Campus was designed as a multi-terraced building progressively ascending from the street to the hilltop to highlight the unusual terrain. This is made even more apparent by outdoor roof terraces that offer vantage points to appreciate the lush greenery around the site. Its massing and form were inspired by the elegant geometry of chateaus in the Loire Valley region of France, the country from which the school originates. Twin peaks belonging to the building core anchor the project and highlight the central axis. The latter doubles as a pedestrian thoroughfare linking to the newly-created courtyard on the hilltop. The school houses a research and learning sanctuary and public spaces for social and intellectual discussions.
