Chengdu City Planning & Research Institute
Chengdu is a vibrant and fast-growing city in south-western China with its population expected to grow by 10 million to 30 million in the next 50 years. Located on the east side near the future Chengdu Tianfu International Airport, Chengdu East New City is closely linked to Chengdu Central City. However, it functions as an independent satellite city with approximately 750 km2 of urbanised area and a projected population of 8 million people by 2070. This master plan illustrates the concept of the constellation city, with four cities and three sub-central business districts. Not only will it retain its current natural environment, but also be further enhanced to become a city of parks, with the hope of making it a model for city planning in China.
